Waves and Ripples

96.5 TDY brings artists in for live performances and interviews at the Audacy office, broadcasting the session while inviting listeners to watch in person, so the backdrop behind the artist needed to feel like a real concert environment rather than a static station slide. This session featured Seattle rapper and singer-songwriter charlieonnafriday, who broke through with his debut album OnnaFriday and the viral hit "After Hours." I designed a looping motion graphic built around a deep blue gradient, with the artist's name rendered in a wave-textured teal fill that gives the type a fluid, water-like quality rather than solid color.

Bubbles as the Signature Move

To bring the backdrop to life, I animated a set of softly glowing, glass-like bubbles that drift and rise across the frame at different speeds and sizes, reinforcing the water theme with a slow, ambient rhythm. Keeping the motion gentle and continuous meant the graphic could run behind the full performance without pulling focus from the artist on stage, while still giving the broadcast a distinct, memorable visual identity for one of the artists helping define Seattle's modern hip hop sound.
